YAAAR

So I finally got my vanity plate a couple of weeks ago and I love it!!! It's a play on words for Yaris and what a pirate says. Also my Yaris has been christened as Morgan, as in Capt Morgan. I'd been trying to come up with a pirate name for my car now for awhile and nothing was working. Black Beard was too long and my car is silver, wouldn't work. I thought Silver Beard but that's just stupid. And that's as far as I got. Then one day I was having a discussion with some of my co-workers about how they think all cars are girls and I said that that's only because boys made it that way and that I'm not a boy so my car must be a boy not a girl. (Stupid reason I know, but I wasn't going to give in) So while still in this discussion they were coming up with names for me and I might add none better than what I had already come up with. And then it comes to me, Capt. Morgan, it's perfect!

• Morgan can be both a boy and girl name -both parties satisfied - check
  
• The name isn't too long - check
• Its a sweat name - check
• Its a pirate name - check

So there we have it, my new license plate and newly christened Yaris, Morgan.

Musica

I was having a discussion with one of my co-workers the other day about whether it would be better to blind or deaf if you had to choose one. She said deaf because there is sign language and she'd rather see things like movies and pictures. I thought about that and thought that I would rather be blind because there isn't anything worth seeing on TV or in the movies. I would rather listen to music all day than watch a movie or a TV show. I don't think I could be deaf just for the sake of music.

I've pretty much spent my whole day listening to some of my older music that I came across and I've been enjoying the memories that come with them. I did listen to all your suggestions, thanks for those by the way, they were all great!!! I've also found some new music that is not anything that will sweep the nation but it puts you in one of those moods that makes you think the day is going to be a good day. So I have one for you all. It's called "How the Day Sounds" by Greg Laswell, He sounds like Carbonleaf. I'm also in love with Coldplay's Viva la Vida and Vilot Hill.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still alive. Sorry no new jokes. I am in the market for some!! Seriously if you have any good jokes, do share.

I broke out the Rock Band drum set the other day and decided I needed to grease up my talent so I didn't get rusty. Yeah, too late. Wow was I rusty. It was tons of fun though. It really is too bad that I didn't play percussion in school I actually might have practiced.

I do have a request of all you diligent readers, I am in need of new music. (Rachel I know about Wilco and Coldplay, I have not forgotten) As important as music is in my life, it has taken a back burner for several months and I think it is high time I bring it back to the front. I haven't listened to the radio in I think about over a year so I am out of the loop when it comes that. I also have not done any research like I usually do to find new groups and/or songs. So here is what I propose, that if you have read this far you have to leave a suggestion for a song. If you have not left a suggestion, I will know, so you better leave one. :) I really am interested to see what I'm missing, and what you all love enough to share.

I just have one more thing to add before I close, "Being dumb is not smart". I want you all to remember that!

A joke

At the request of many of you, I am taking a couple of minutes to update my blog. I wish I had some grand old story to relate or some great joke I heard since last I wrote. Unless you've heard the one about the 2 blonds and the river then I've got nothing. So I will leave the grand month of May with you all, a joke.

There are these 2 blonds, one on each side of the river. One of them says to the other, "Hey, how do I get to the other side of the river?" The other says, "You are on the other side of the river."

Sadly that is all I have. Until next month, farewell.

My biggest purchase yet....

This is the damage my truck took from my accident last month.

And this is the result... a new 2008 Toyota Yaris. It had 94 miles off the lot. It gets 29 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.

A First for Me

I woke from my afternoon nap and went to the kitchen, mainly to stay away from my bed so I could sleep tonight, and turned on the tv. 7 hours later I watched not only the Oscars straight through but the red carpet show before.

I just want to shout out to Glenn Hansard and Marketa Irglova a big congrats!!! Loved the movie and music and their Oscars were well deserved!

My Goal for 2008/2009

The other night I felt the strong need to have personal space, a place to call mine and mine alone. So after talking to Rachel, I have decided to safe up and purchase a small house. I talked to my Dad about the finer points and I think it is doable by the end of the year or at the latest sometime next year especially since the market is a buyers market. So with that said, I have started to watch more closely what and how I spend my money. And I'm saving like there is no tomorrow. I was looking at homes on the internet and of boy did that get me really excited about the idea.

And.... done.

GREATEST MOVIE - I had to look up what movies came out this past year. This past year really wasn't all that great for movies in my opinion. I wouldn't say it was my favorite but I enjoyed it and could watch it over and over; I would pick Stardust. I bet most of you haven't even heard of that one. If you don't like fantasy or stories with magic, don't bother. But if you do, then watch it, it's good.
GREATEST RECORDS - A bunch, hard to narrow it down. So a little of all of these: 30 Seconds to Mars, The Fray, Paramore, Regina Spektor, unkle Bob, Linkin Park, etc.
GREATEST CONCERT - I've been to one in my entire life and that was only so the other person wouldn't be going alone... I don't do concerts.
